Hello dance families, I hope you all had a fabulous school holiday and are ready to leap into Term 3 with us!
A big well done to my senior students who attended Winter School in Wellington, it was an incredible week of learning new skills, working with inspiring tutors and making new friends!

“Shake, Rattle & Remix” Saturday Rehearsals Begin Saturday, 19 July
Rehearsals start at 12pm for Preschool - Grade 2 Ballet
1pm-2.30pm for CMJ and Grade 3,4,5 Ballet
1.30pm-3pm for Intermediate and Advanced Ballet & CMJ
If your child is in the upcoming show, you’ll be contacted directly by the coordinator of their group with all the details.

"Cheese with a Purpose" - Jones Family Farm Cheese Fundraiser, supporting The Wakatu Dance Theatre dancers/performers and their studio home! We are hoping the cheese will arrive for a Saturday, 13 September collection at Peta Spooner Academy of Dance studio in Nelson, 11 Hastings Street (opposite Spotlight) at 10am.
5 x Jones Family Farm flavoured cheese for $20 (normally $38) The 5 packs include 60g (300g in total) of their award-winning cheeses, Creamy Havarti, Classic Gouda, Peppered Havarti, Chilli Havarti, Cold Smoked Havarti and Pecorino (selection of the 5 depend on available varieties)
A2 milk, it's easy to digest, its delicious & nutritious & perfect for platters
This fundraiser will help with the ongoing repairs & maintenance of the ageing Wakatu Dance Theatre Studios and help to support the young dancers of Nelson/Tasman region. Every $20 sold $5 goes towards The Wakatu Dance Theatre Trust - We thank you all for your support!

A very warm welcome to new and existing students and families to the Peta Spooner Academy of Dance 2025. I trust you all are having a safe and happy holidays, I cannot wait to see everyone again! I am still tweaking my 2025 timetable, I promise it will be out soon. Enrolment Day will be on Thursday 30 January, 4:30pm-6pm. If you are unable to attend enrolment day, please download the 2025 enrolment form and bring along to your child’s first class (filled in please). Our first day back in the Studio will be on Tuesday, 4 February 2025 ⭐︎ There is excitement brewing for my senior students, who will be attending a Summer School at the the New Zealand School of Dance, 21-24 January. Parents and students have worked incredibly hard fundraising for this trip. *Next week on Tuesday & Wednesday 14 & 15 January, there will be an open workshop for all seniors (who are not on holiday). 10:30am for 1.5hr of conditioning Half an hour for lunch 12:30pm for 1.5hr of Adv 1 Ballet We will do a shared lunch on both days. There is no charge for this workshop, though a donation towards the cleaning cupboard will be greatly appreciated. (Dettol, Toilet cleaner, Jif, Window Cleaner, Handy Andy, Hand Soap, Disinfectant - no toilet paper please). Dates, info etc TBC by week 4 of term 1 Lily Warner - Contemporary Modern Dance Gina Andrews - Contemporary Modern Dance Paula Harrison - Musical Theatre Ashley Belk - Open Hip Hop Our Annual Show - this is our big event for the year for all our students - Show dates for 2025 are 15-16 August (we are packing in at the Theatre Royal Nelson on the 10 August).Please mark these dates in your calendar, more show information will be sent out during Term 1. Exams will be in June and December. Please make sure you child has the proper dance gear to start the year off - see Uniform Order Form below. FEES are due in week 1 of each term.
